Kamila Giesbrecht  CFA, RPA

Experience

Kamila has worked in the investment consulting and investment management fields for 20 years. She specializes in advising university and international not-for-profit trusts, foundations, endowments, and family offices, and also works with regulated utilities and multi-employer and jointly-trusteed pension plans.

In both a portfolio management and consulting capacity, Kamila assists not-for-profit organizations design spending policies and optimize asset mixes to achieve sustainable long-term payout requirements. Her most prominent work in this space involved two provincial trust funds, two large university endowment funds, and two endowment funds stemming from an international environmental treaty.

Kamila also moderates committee decision-making in the debate on divesting from fossil fuel investments, and conducts advanced due diligence on investment opportunities in real estate and infrastructure.

More broadly, Kamila has extensive experience in the areas of investment and spending policy, investment beliefs, manager research and selection, performance evaluation, asset mix optimization, and asset-liability analysis.

Prior to joining George & Bell, Kamila spent 14 years with the investment practice of a global consultancy firm, recently chairing Canada’s Endowment and Foundation Working Group. She also has portfolio management experience with one of Canada’s largest independent bond managers. Kamila began her career with the investment consulting practice of a global public accounting firm, where she spearheaded her region’s manager research and asset allocation functions.

Qualifications & Education

Kamila is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Retirement Pension Associate (RPA).

She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1998 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree after studying economics and computer science at the Academy of Economics in Wroclaw, Poland. Kamila has also completed course work in Corporate Credit Risk Analysis from Standard and Poor’s, as well as various courses in communication and leadership.
